talk is cheap and violence is easy Substitute kicks and punches for punctuation The sick transmissions that make us uneasy A sensation of new desperation to Desensitise me so I just can't seem to do it by myself Desenstise me so I Just have to do it to someone else You won't abbreviate me know You can't alleviate this pressure Discourse deteriorates in this ruthless twisting of our nature Better deals, cheaper thrills Truncating our communication skills Scratch at the walls that keep me verbalised Break the constraints of conversation Come lay me down with the socially circumcised Dumb down the meaning of the consequence of our creation Desensitise me so I just can't seem to do it by myself Desenstise me so I Just have to do it to someone else You won't abbreviate me know You can't alleviate this pressure Discourse deteriorates in this ruthless twisting of our nature Better deals, cheaper thrills Truncating our communication skills Why don't we know how to communicate We need to learn how to communicate You won;t abbreviate this no You can't alleviate this tension For each commiserated soul there's ten more stuck in apprehension Twist the reasons to break our will When now even comunication kills

Kiss Kiss, Flash Flash It's all about me honey honey A List, Flash Cash, Look at me i'm so money monet Bright lights, big city i know you want to see me see me Such sights, such pity, i know you want to be me so you Had best watch out because I'm starting a fire You'd best keep back because I keep getting higher It might turn out to be my funeral pyre Another victim of media friendly fire Sell my celebrity Stretch fifteen minutes to thirty thirty Don't I look pretty Naked on the internet, dirty dirty One song I sang It bombed but you adore me don't you? Kiss Kiss bang Bang It's all been too much for me so you Had best watch out because I'm starting a fire You'd best keep back because I keep getting higher It might turn out to be my funeral pyre Another victim of media friendly fire There must be someone to blame My fifteen minutes of fame I know I should be ashamed but You don't know my name

Its not safe to go outside these days Because our skin just isn't thick enough And the world just isn't big enough It's not safe to speak your mind these days But the words still come too easily To everyone that won't agree with All of us Maybe its subliminal Or just a word to the wise but everyones a criminal Unitil proven otherwise So bar up all your windows And never answer the phone if you don't talk to anyone You'll be safe in your own home but Its not safe to go outside these days Because our skin just isn't thick enough And the world just isn't big enough It's not safe to speak your mind these days But the words still come too easily To everyone that won't agree with All of us So take down all my details Leave the back up on a train If somebody takes it I guess I'll have to change my name Move into the country Forget everyone I know And hope that they forget me Because I'm not safe in my own home Its not safe to go outside these days Because our skin just isn't thick enough And the world just isn't big enough It's not safe to speak your mind these days But the words still come too easily To everyone that won't agree with All of us Empty streets and deadlocked doors Are all that we have To remind us of what we have come to forget Foster the fear to sell out the news stands If you survive you could die by your own hands Empty eyes and deadened faces In these crowds and open spaces I think I might go outside today And see if the world really seems As bad as we're led to believe I think I might find something to say Someone might share my point of view And Say I feel the same as you but Its not safe to go outside these days Because our skin just isn't thick enough And the world just isn't big enough It's not safe to speak your mind these days But the words still come too easily To everyone that won't agree with All of us

comfort zone 04:25
Like another story about fools and angels I don't know where to put my feet Treading eggshells until I can find a reason Where my means and my ends meet One time lovers and two time friends Third time round may be we'll start again Count our blessings and make amends Or number our days to see where it sll ends But I, I'm not really here And I, I'm not really And I, I'm not really here I'm gone, back home Coddle myself like an infant wrapped in cotton wool So I wouldn;t feel it if I fell if I leave my bubble will i be killed by the world With a nod to HG Wells One more chance to take a second guess Third time luck is as good as it gets We remember how to forget Greener pastures that we haven't found yet But I, I'm not really here And I, I'm not really And I, I'm not really here I'm gone, back home i'm deep in my comfort zone But I'm already moving I walk on Break out of your comfort zone An I know that we're already here And I know that we are ready I know that we're already here And I know we're already home

Maybe it's too late And there's no way to stop this from moving Apply the brakes And hope against hope that it's enough What can you say When you're travelling too fast to listen Maybe thats ok When listening just isn't enough Falling forward in slow motion Waiting for a moment of impact To snap out of this restless daze Where every moment feels like Falling asleep in traffic What goes around tends to have no way of stopping So put your foot down And hope it's enough to carry you Break through the sound now there's no reason for you to listen Turn this around and face what you're heading to Falling forward in slow motion Waiting for a moment of impact To snap out of this restless daze Where every moment feels like Falling asleep in traffic Maybe there's no way to stop this from moving Maybe there's no other way out of this

Catchphrase 03:53
People just walking around Hoping To stand out from the crowd Cut both sides For candyfloss smiles A simple divide It wasn't supposed to be You hear what I say and I hear what you say In this way our differences fall away You watch what I see and I watch you see Through this confusion you become more like me You learn what I do and I learn what you do this cynincal mimic has become more like you You just want to be how I just want to be Defend no pretences and just say what you see Now people Still laugh at the clowns Hoping That one day they'll wear the crown The big top burns The worm that turns My stomach churns It wasn't supposed to be You hear what I say and I hear what you say In this way our differences fall away You watch what I see and I watch you see Through this confusion you become more like me You learn what I do and I learn what you do this cynincal mimic has become more like you You just want to be how I just want to be Defend no pretences and just say what you see It wasn't supposed to be forever

Out on the tiles another night of excess Coming around again, a common trend Temperatures rise with the desire tom impress Leading to any ends, it's the weekend so Let it go, lose control Break you bones as the inhibitions fall Forget yourself in liquid lust But keep your hands to yourself I think that you should just Settle down Because if you want to Start trouble i think you've come to the Wrong place Now we're all having such a good time We don;t want to burst the bubble tonight Swelling with pride as you imbibe your own weight Much more than you can take, for goodness sake All the wrong eyes caught in the sights of your state Something is bound to break, so something breaks What happens next is a cautionary tale One lies in traction and one more in jail It's not just London's pride, in alcohol we trust But keep a hold of yourself I think that you should just Settle down Because if you want to Start trouble I tihnk you've come to the Wrong place Now we're all having such a good time We don't want to burst the bubble tonight

Distrust can distort your vision Making you see double meanings when between the lines There's just empty spaces Not everything is a riddle Written in rhyme to distract so the truth can escape Without any traces So pay attention to what is said Don't listen to what is in your head Step back and take a deep breath or two Is that too much for you Please don't take this the worng way Even though you're not listening anyway You hear whatever you think is fit So take the wrong end of a short stick and run with it It's easy to jump to conclusions Especially when you're looking down from an Ivory tower Waiting to take flight So next time you fly off the handle Out of the frying pan into the fire again You will know I'm right I'm trying to save you from yourself It's for the sake of your mental health Step back and take a deep breath or two Is that too much for you Please don't take this the wrong way Even thought you're not listening anyway Just hear whatever you think is fit And take the wrong end of a short stick and run with it Please don't take this the wrong way Even though it's already too late Your interpretation is counterfeit So take the wrong end of a short stick and run with it

about

Our self-penned, self-produced, self-titled (self-centred?) debut album, this pretty much covers the set we've been banging out for the last year. It signalled a more coherent direction for us, as well as a return to a heavier sound that was much missed by everyone in the band!
It kicks off with Communication killer - a re-working of the first track from our first demo "gifthorsemouth" - a song inspired by happy slapping with satirical, tongue in cheek lyrics, it helps set the tone for the rest of the album.
After picking up the pace with three-and-a-half-minute set-opener "Media Friendly Fire", and the singalonga chorus of the agoraphobic "Crowds and open Spaces", the album moves breifly into a more introspective tone.
"Comfort Zone"'s chop-and-change dynamics, ending on a sparse, hopeful chorus, lead us into the delay laden harmonics of "Falling asleep in traffic", itself a song about hope in the face of seemingly uncontrollable circumstance.
This lull in the storm doesn't last long though, and the brutal chug of "Catchphrase"'s intro soon brings us back around. Following on to live favourite "Friday Night Fights", written about a typical weekend drinking in the bands home town of Hemel Hempstead, and ending with the thunderous drums of and pounding rhythm of "Wrong End of a Short stick", it seems a little surprising when it runs in at a little over 30 minutes, but it gives you a pretty good idea of what we are about.
Download, listen, love (hopefully), then come hit us up on the social networks to let us know what you think. Peace

about

deadhorsetooth Hertfordshire, UK

Deadhorsetooth formed in 2004 when they got tired of folk. Guitarist Moggy moved to take centre stage after too long on the sidelines had melted his bloated ego, while once-trumpeter greg found himself drawn back to those rumbling bass frequencies. Drummer Mikey has never strayed from his skin-bashing tendencies, and his funk band background has brought the grooves that the tooth were after. ... more
